I started teaching in 2001 and regardless of the school or system, I saw kids with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLDs) who were struggling with fundamental skills. The schools just didn't have the ability or resources to support these learners at the level the kids required.
After classroom teaching across year groups from kindergarten to Year 12 and delivering school-based interventions to primary school students, I became a Learning and Support Teacher at a regional high school. This inspired me to complete my Masters in Special and Inclusive Education through the University of Newcastle.
Like many teachers, tutoring was my side-hustle; often helping a friends' kid or maybe a student who needed additional support. Over the years I became more aware of those students who needed extra help, but the crowded classroom and busy curriculum meant I couldn't do enough.
That's why Multisensory Learning Hub was launched in 2021. With a mission to support neurodivergent students, I'm with them every step of the way as they develop the literacy and numeracy skills that are not only essential for academic success, but also contribute to self-confidence and positive mental health.
I believe in a personalised approach to supporting each learner's education. Everyone has unique learning needs, and I work to identify and nurture each student's strengths as well as support them on their learning journey. With a focus on multisensory learning techniques and evidence-based practices, I aim to make lessons engaging and effective. My goal is to foster a love for learning while improving academic performance.
With more than 20 years of teaching experience, and 5 years offering personalised support, I can create a individualised support plan for your child.
Together, we can help your child reach their potential.
